Sustainability

Every decision we make is geared towards minimising the impact we have on the planet – as a business and individuals. So, from our production processes, to the materials and packaging we use, we’re always finding new ways to reduce our environmental footprint and sustain our future.

WE ALL HAVE THE POWER TO INSPIRE A BETTER WORLD

Our mission is to work responsibly with our suppliers towards a more socially and environmentally conscious future, putting people and the planet first. That’s why we only partner with ethical suppliers, use the best sustainable materials and design beautiful, contemporary and stylish pieces that are intended to last.

We give back through charitable community initiatives that help fight social and environmental injustice today for a fairer tomorrow. In short, everything we do comes down to three things – people, the planet, and positive change.

We preserved our sandal suppliers’ staff incomes (who had orders can- celled from other brands) by asking them to make face masks for us.

We have sourced our colourful Kenyan sandal bags from the Elimu Sewing Project in Kenya, which supports young women from vulnerable back- grounds to pursue a two-year training program to work in the sewing trade.

Social Responsibility

We have achieved social accreditations from all Aspiga clothing suppliers (SEDEX or SA8000), who have had annual on-site audit visits, to ensure ethical standards are being met within their factories.

We have moved over 90% of our cotton to organic GOTS certified cotton. Where we have been unable to source organic cotton for particular items, we have donated to Water Harvest, a program that provides life-saving water tanks for the most deprived communities in Delhi and Jaipur.

We have also introduced a capsule collection this year made from LEN- ZING viscose which has been certified as compostable and biodegradable as well as being sourced from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified forests.

We have stopped buying polyester and plastic-based materials throughout the entire Aspiga Collection.

We have removed all plastic packaging from our garments and footwear.

Our clothing now comes in new garment bags made from 100% corn- starch. These bags are 100% compostable as they are made from vegeta- bles and will naturally break down over time (unlike plastic).

Our product tags are fully recyclable and certified by the FSC.

Our Kenyan sandals now come in colourful material sandal bags made by the Elimu Sewing Project in Kenya which supports young women from vulnerable backgrounds, to pursue a two-year training program to learn key skills in the sewing trade. We encourage our customers to reuse these sandal bags.
