Behind The Scenes: AW23 Shoot

This season, the Aspiga team set off to the historic city of Bath to shoot our new Autumn/Winter 2023 collection. In this exclusive behind the scenes blog, we unveil the creative process and inspiration behind the collection, the locations that set the stage, and the talent that brought it all to life.

The Creative Process

We spoke to our design team to delve deeper into the creative vision and inspirations behind our AW23 collection:

'Looking to nature and the environment was our overarching concept for the collection. We broke this down into micro trends, such as Twilight Garden, consisting of rich darker tones with textured florals and a focus on draping fluid fabrics to take customers from day to night. This theme is evident in our Evelina dress in a jewel-tone teal silky viscose jacquard, and our Paisley pieces printed onto floaty georgette bases.'

'Another inspiration starting point was underpinned by the trend of Care Culture, with the use of cosy, tactile and homely feeling fabrics to create silhouettes that combine versatility and comfort with beautifully crafted details. This can be seen with our new stretch cord collection, such as the Anette Stretch Corduroy Cuffed Jogger, and Utility Stretch Corduroy Jumpsuits; perfect to dress up or down, stylish yet practical. Combine with our cosy 100% merino wool knits, including base-layers, polo-necks, and cardigans - all great for layering in comforting colour combinations.'

'With our sequin collection, we wanted to offer fun yet elegant eveningwear for the party season. The wearable blue hues of our sequin colour palette were selected to pair with beautiful viscose satins and velvets. As always, sustainability was at the heart of the collection from beginning to end, so we worked carefully with our suppliers to source recycled sequins and recycled tulle base.'

The design process

Our design team also offered some styling tips for their favourite pieces from the collection:

Izzie (Assistant Designer): 'Toni Stretch Corduroy Dress with Monza Chunky Sole Boots and our Reversible Shearling Biker Jacket - a great desk to dinner outfit!'

Milly (Design Assistant): 'Our super-soft Long-Sleeve Jersey T-Shirt with Kick Flare Jeans and our Corduroy Shirt Jacket. A comfortable everyday outfit.'

Jenny (Senior Designer): 'Sequin Trousers, white Paris Low Top Trainers and our cream Roll Neck Jumper for an uplifting winter outfit.'

The Location

With its picturesque Georgian architecture and cobbled streets, Bath provided the perfect backdrop to capture the timeless elegance of our new AW23 collection. The shoot took place in the heart of the city as well as at a charming country house nestled in the countryside just a 15-minute drive from the city centre.

Whilst filming in various scenic locations around Bath, we found some hidden gems along the way. For example, this delightful coffee shop, No. 11 Espresso Bar, where the lovely staff let us shoot some of our new collection, such as this Striped Crew Neck Jumper and Stretch Corduroy Dungarees.

We loved Bath so much that we've got a new store opening there! Find us at 7 Broad Street, BA1 5LJ, and stay tuned for more information.

Meet the Team

At Aspiga, we love to celebrate the talent of our team. From the photographers and videographers who skillfully capture the essence of the brand, to our models, Rosalieke, Aliane and Valeria, who embody the grace and style of our collections. We styled the collection ourselves using various Aspiga accessories to complete the looks.

Here we have the gorgeous Rosalieke styled in our Evelina Jacquard Dress and Royal Gradient Small Tote.

Our Favourite Moments

A highlight of the shoot was meeting Dolly the bulldog! Dolly's owner was walking past just as we were shooting some of our new corduory pieces, like this cornflower blue Victoria V-Neck Long Sleeve Dress and Stretch Corduroy Trouser & Jacket co-ord, and very kindly let us use Dolly for some shots. Trying to get her to pose certainly brought a smile to everyone's faces, but we think the results are fabulous!
