Our BCorp Certification (NEW 23)

Our BCorp Certification

Our BCorp Certification

What is B Corp?

Certified B Corporations, or B Corps, are companies verified by B Lab to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

Certifying to be a B Corp is a comprehensive process, considered to be one of the highest global certifications for business. It goes beyond looking at individual products, instead looking to assess the overall impact of a business and how it operates and the value it creates for its communities.

Proudly B Corp Certified

Aspiga is honoured to have been awarded this status, a comprehensive process which we began well over a year ago. Adding our voice to this important movement, has embedded environmental and social practice into our legal business structure, ensuring we consider people and the planet as important as making profit.

Many apply to become B Corp, but only a few make the cut.

We founded Aspiga on a simple notion and idea that fashion can exist to improve lives, lift people up, and preserve and protect our natural environment. As a purpose-driven business from the beginning, we work to put people and planet above profit whilst creating items that look beautiful and are loved and worn again. By joining this movement we are working to show that the value of business is not just about creating profit, but doing so with care and attention to all that are impacted along the way.

It is in everything we have done up until now and built to this point, and this is only just the beginning.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be awarded B-Corp status. The B Corp movement exists to prove that businesses can be a force for good, that good business can lift people up, preserve our ecosystems and our planet’s resources and that mission-led business can and should be the future that we imagine."

Why B Corp? Why now?

We believe that B Corp is the single most important movement of our time.

B Corp certification is awarded to only those who meet the strictest and most stringent ethical practices and guidelines. Many apply, but only few make the cut.

As one of the few fashion brands in the world and the UK to be granted B Corp certification, Aspiga is incredibly proud to be standing in this arena.

The B Corp movement exists to prove that businesses can be a force for good: that good business can be the norm; and should be the future that we imagine and demand.

Adding our voice to this important movement, becoming BCorp certified has embedded environmental and social practice into our legal business structure, ensuring we consider people and the planet as important as making profit.

We believe in the value we can build as a business and place community, customers, environment, governance, and workers at the centre of our success towards a fair and equitable future for all.

These are the exact foundations for which we founded Aspiga, so for us this was a natural step forward and we are proud to join this important movement."

What does this mean for our business, our customers and our future?

1. We craft our products with care:

By purchasing our products, you can be assured that they have been made with respect to our stakeholders beyond monetary value and profits.

4. Fashion can and should be a force for good:

We are dedicated to showing the impact fashion can have in driving forward positive change within our societies through the products we create.

2. Our stakeholders are our priority:

We place importance in our community, customers, environment, governance, and workers. These are always at the centre of our success.

5. Our claims are verified and independently assessed:

By joining the B Corp movement and being assessed under these guidelines, we have verified these practices and priorities to our business.

3. We are building something bigger than Aspiga:

We are working to build a collective vision of an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy that benefits all people and the planet.

6. This is legally binding:

Above all, by signing the declaration of interdependence, we have written these values into the foundation and legal structure of our business.

“To be one of the top fashion brands here in the UK is remarkable. It is the culmination of the years of hard work and dedication of our team, our supplier partners, and our vision. Step by step we can make this a reality for all."

What next?

It doesn’t end now that we have achieved B Corp certification, in fact it is just the beginning for us. It has set in place a constant improvement workflow and process to ensure our score is maintained and improved. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved but there is always more to do.

Every three years Aspiga is reassessed, whereby we undergo the rigorous process to show our impact again.

For us and our vision, B Corp is a firm step forward in our efforts to lead the global sustainability movement forward in fashion. We need clear goals, collective vision, transparency, and accountability to take us there. We are proud to join this initiative and grow within it.

This follows our wider sustainability efforts and everything else that goes into creating our products and placing Aspiga as a sustainability leader in the field.
